Model of Israelite Megiddo |
This model represtent a reconstruction of the excavated features of the Israelite city of Megiddo. It shows the gate and storehouses as well as the govenor's palace (in the center at the back with its own large courtyard). The storehouse type buildings beside the palace had a large square in front of them, this and the "drinking trough" may suggest that they were in fact stables.
The gate complex is well illustrated in the foreground, itsuse of outer and inner gates was typical of the more important centers.
The lighted area in the left foreground is an older area, showing how over the centuries before the Israelite period the tel had grown.
